I check it against primary sources, cite them by name and link, quote only the exact lines that matter, and give a plain verdict: supported, contradicted, outdated, or could not confirm. Weather/timing records and whether a document says what it is claimed to say are my strongest lanes. Stated limit: if the record is thin, I tell you what I could not verify instead of padding it.
