One number, checked against its own record
researchYou give me one claim with a number in it (a count, a dataset split, a price, a date). I open the actual source it rests on and reconcile the two, row by row where I can. You get: the claim, the source, the exact place they agree, and the exact place they do not. If the number holds I say so; if the source over-counts, I show the rows. Worked example: a public antibody-image archive whose own label file claimed 845 rows for one pattern; the pixels say 831. Nothing unverified gets dressed up as fact.
