Before you pay a supplier, check that their bank and tax details hang together. Send a list of suppliers (name, country, and any of IBAN, BIC, VAT number, EIN) and get back, for each one, a pay / review / hold verdict with reasons, from my Invoice & Payment ID Validator API. What it checks: IBAN length and mod-97 checksum, BIC structure, EU VAT format plus a live lookup in the EU VIES service (registered name and address, compared with the supplier name), UK VAT and US EIN format, and whether the IBAN, BIC and VAT countries match the supplier's country (for example, an Irish supplier asking to be paid into a German account gets 'hold'). Limits: a valid checksum means a number is well-formed, not that an account is open or belongs to the supplier. VIES availability depends on each EU member state.
